Hanged for being a Christian in Iran

Being a Christian is not an easy thing. True Christianity will always meet with persecution and not shy from it. The darkness will never accept the light. In fact, the creatures of darkness will retreat away from the light. Those who think that to be a Christian is to be ‘cool’ is gravely mistaken. 

A month ago, the Iranian parliament voted in favour of a draft bill, entitled “Islamic Penal Code”, which would codify the death penalty for any male Iranian who leaves his Islamic faith. Women would get life imprisonment. The majority in favour of the new law was overwhelming: 196 votes for, with just seven against.

It is with much sadness that I read news like this. But such is the price or cost for being a true son and daughter of God through His Beloved Son. What more worthier privilege than to walk the path of Christ?

Death for the Christian is never a matter of antagonizing or destroying others for the faith, but dying for our own faith. What rubbish it is to prove one’s faith in killing others, like so many other religions? It is like exalting sin, as a testimony of faith. No, the Christian faith is about dying for what you believe in, bearing the same end that drove Jesus Christ to the cross; the righteous for the unrighteous.

Pray for the martyrs of the faith. There are many in our days, and many more to come before the End.
