iPod Touch 8GB 2nd Generation

The sweet news? It only cost USD229. Much cheaper than the current 1st generation ones. That translates to about RM800.Β

Much slimmer, and a built in speaker. That’s all, but that’s enough isn’t it, for a regular PDA? πŸ™‚

  1. As a first-gen iPod Touch owner, I think that the real value is the addition of the hardware volume control. In the first-gen Touch, if the song you’re listening to is too loud you have no choice but to turn it on and use the on-screen volume control to reduce the volume. So the addition of an external volume control is a huge plus.

The built-in speaker makes sense too. Not for songs, but if let’s say you’ve programmed your calendar to alert you on a certain deadline, there’s no point if you have to use headphones to hear that beep. πŸ™‚ Or when mail arrives. Or…

  2. Sadly, it cost RM949 (the official pricing)… but if you go on Lelong.com.my, there are some online retailers who are selling them for as low as RM850. Still it is way more expensive than the RM800 sold in US. *shrug*

  3. I just realized I spread misinformation on your blog. πŸ™‚ The first-gen iPod Touch does have a built-in speaker. It’s just a lame piezo-speaker that sounds like one of those ringtones from cellphones in the ’90s πŸ˜›

But it does work and produce sounds on alarms and calendar alerts. I know coz I woke up to it this morning. πŸ™‚

But who cares right, everyone is eyeing the 2nd-gen Touch now πŸ˜›
