Zonbu – Green Computing for $250 (USD)

I totally digg this particular PC. Unfortunately it is only available in the US. Good news? My sis is going there soon. šŸ™‚ hahahahaha.

On to the things that really attracted me to this particular product:

Zonbu is a compact, ultra low power mini with all the bells and whistles:

  • Intel-compatible ultra-low power CPU
  • 512 MB RAM + 4GB flash-based local storage
  • Graphics up to 2048 x 1536 (16 million colors, 75 Hz). Hardware graphics and MPEG2 acceleration
  • PC-compatible ports for keyboard and mouse
  • 6 USB ports to plug-and-play all standard USB accessories
  • Broadband ready: 10/100 Mbps Ethernet built-in
  • Without noisy fans and disk drives, it’s completely silent, so it won’t intrude on your inner space.
  • Average energy use is only 15 W (Normal computers are 175 W)!

Of course it is only useful for mundane tasks…. Office applications and internet usage. Not for heavy gaming and programming/rendering. But that’s ok šŸ™‚

  1. I ordered one to see how it does as a desktop replacement.

You’re right, it won’t be good for serious gaming or 3D rendering, but I spent 80% of my time on the “mundane” as do most of us.
